JD stands for Janata Dal (upto 1999) and Janata Dal (Secular) in 2004. A UDF independent had contested the election in 1991 and won 2.64 per cent votes.
An NDA independent (IFDP) had contested the 2004 elections with BJP support and won 1.7 per cent of total votes polled in the State.
Similarly, the BJP supported an independent in Alappuzha in 2009 who won 0.12 per cent of the total votes polled in the State.
