Served as Minister for Electricity in the A. K. Antony Ministry in 1995 and Food and Civil Supplies Minsiter in the Ministry headed by Mr. Antony from 2001.

Previously elected to the Assembly in 1982, 1991, 1996, 2001, 2006 and 2011.
